CICWQ’s September updates. Our regulatory priority is the renewal process for the Construction General Permit for stormwater, which affects nearly all CICWQ member companies and workforce. The CICWQ team presented a comprehensive 50-minute presentation on the impact of water quality total maximum daily load pollutant removal requirements in the California Construction General Permit at the Tri-State Environmental Conference in August. And there is a new Executive Officer at the Santa Ana Regional Water Quality Control Board, Ms. Jayne Joy.

1.) CICWQ Presentation on Construction Job Site TMDL Compliance in California
CICWQ was invited to present at the annual Tri-State Environmental Conference, Stormwater Program, on August 10, 2021, held in Las Vegas, Nevada. Tri-State consists of the AZ Water Association, California Water Environment Association, and Nevada Water Environment Association. The presentation focuses on how the construction industry in California is approaching potential compliance with Numeric Effluent Limits (NELs) and Numeric Action Levels (NALs) as proposed in the renewal of the California Construction General Permit for Stormwater.
2.) Construction Industry Coalition Letter to Governor Newsom on impact of Construction General Permit

3.) Jayne Joy Selected as Executive Officer for the Santa Ana Regional Water Quality Control Board
The Santa Ana Regional Water Quality Control Board has appointed Jayne Joy as its new executive officer. Joy replaces Hope Smythe, who devoted 37 years to the regional board and served as executive officer since 2017.
