DECEMBER NEWSWORTHY ITEM
A Win for California’s Construction Industry: Supporting the Delta Conveyance Project
The construction industry in California celebrates a major milestone in advancing the Delta Conveyance Project (DCP)—a vital initiative to modernize and safeguard the state’s water supply system for generations to come.
In early December, the Metropolitan Water District (MWD) of Southern California’s Board of Directors approved $142 million in additional funding to support critical pre-construction activities. This decision comes at a pivotal moment, aligning with similar funding commitments made by other state water contractors. The approved funding will propel essential work forward, including permitting processes and extensive public outreach efforts.
At CICWQ, we have been steadfast advocates for the Delta Conveyance Project over the years. Our contributions include providing direct testimony to the MWD Board, submitting detailed comment letters, and collaborating closely with business and labor organizations who share our commitment to modernizing California’s water infrastructure.
This milestone underscores the collective success of stakeholders across California who are working tirelessly to ensure the future resilience of our water supply system.
